25 February, 3pm • Achording To: Kathleen Rodrigues. Daughter of one of Penang's most renowned guitarists, Larry Rodrigues, Kathleen started singing at the tender age of seven. As a young girl with a ukulele in her hands, she was known as the Shirley Temple of Penang. In 1963, at the age of 16, Kathleen won the title of Linda Scott of Penang in a singing competition and was also the lead guitarist for Penang's first all-girl band, The Ladybirds. Her professional singing career started in 1965 when she joined Joe Rozells's Hawaiian Palm Beach Boys and, since then, Kathleen has sung with most of the top musicians in Penang and recorded many programmes for Radio Malaysia. Kathleen will be joined by Oswald Scully on Keyboards and Bonnie Jeremiah on Bass.
