In conjunction with the International Day of World’s Indigenous People which took place on 9th August 2010, G Hotel collaborates with WL Fine Arts to bring this art exhibition to Penang. The exhibition showcases local artists as well as crafts by the Indigenous People of West Malaysia.
Part of the proceeds from this exhibition goes towards the Orang Asli outreach. All paintings are selling at 10% discount off!

The Grand Ritual Praying For World Peace and Prosperity in Malaysia

The month of September 2010 is very significant for the history of Rumah Berhala Tow Boo Kong Butterworth. For in this month, the temple will be celebrating two major events of the year: its 40th Anniversary as well as The Grand Ritual Praying for World Peace and Prosperity in Malaysia. These celebrations will last for 5 days.
Invitation has been sent to invite high ranking Taoist masters from Fujian China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore to preside the ceremonial prayers for the temple. Other representatives from the Taoist Associations from these countries, as well as Thailand and Malaysia have also been invited to grace this special occasion together. At the same time, these associations will be sending more than 100 Taoist Masters to perform the Blessing and Prayers Ritual.
“Timeless Beauty” Oil Painting Exhibition

Once again, The Penang Oil Painting Society is in collaboration with the Penang State Museum to hold their annual oil-painting art exhibition.
Entitled “Timeless Beauty” this exhibition is The Penang Oil Painting Society’s 8th annual art exhibition and features over 100 art pieces by 29 respective artists from Penang and will be launched by YB Danny Law Heng Kiang, State EXCO for Tourism Development & Culture on Thursday, 2 September 2010, 5.30pm at the Penang State Art Gallery.
Come and treasure the art within this exhibition as they convey life and its emotions through portraitures, sceneries, objects and more. Mr. Woo Seng Non, President of the Penang Oil Painting Society will also be exhibiting his pieces there and he is well known for his works on capturing culture and its expressions especially through his popular Malay Village Lifestyle pieces.

As Hari Raya Adilfitri draws near, our Muslim friends begins to prepare for the celebration with welcoming the Ramadhan month by fasting. With that, let us join our Muslim friends during this Ramadhan month by breaking fast, or better known as “buka puasa”, with them.
Among the highlights of this Ramadhan month are the annual Ramadhan Bazaars which can be found along the streets of Penang selling an assortment of all Malaysian delicacies to feast upon as well as stalls which are specially set up usually in shopping centres during this month where you can find traditional and modern Malay garments of Baju Kebaya, Baju Melayu, Sarong and more. Most major hotels in Penang are offering special Buka Puasa buffet promotion for friends and family to get together.

Merdeka Parade

The National Day of our beloved motherland, Malaysia, is celebrated every 31st August since the year 1957 and this year we are proud to be of 53 years of independence. Independence, or Merdeka, as we call it is a united occasion celebrated by all Malaysians of our multi-cultural national races by displaying the flag of Malaysia at our homes, public monuments, corporate buildings and vehicles as a gesture of love and support for our country.
For this National Day the place to be is at Esplanade where rows of soldiers in their majestic uniforms stand at attention for a formal inspection by the honorary guests.
There will be a Flag ceremony and follow by school brass bands, the armed forces, government offices, NGOs and private corporations parade in their rich and colourful attires.
