PENANG has engaged Optimus Prime and Bumblebee to stand guard at the popular Esplanade non-governmental organisation seafront. The famed sci-fi action Transformers duo will be stationed on a specially enhanced platform at the promenade from July 10 to Sept 17. There will be plenty of opportunities for fans to take photos, free of charge, with the 9m-high Optimus Prime or 6m-high Bumblebee.
Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the outdoor Transformers exhibition would be the first to be held in Southeast Asia. The exhibition, supported by Penang Global Tourism and Penang Island City Council, is held in conjunction with ‘Visit Penang 2015’ and the month-long Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
“Get your family members and friends, especially children, to the Esplanade and be amazed by the gigantic display of these Autobots. “During the night, there will be laser lights and sound effects for the Autobots. “This is a gift for Penangites and those who visit Penang during the exhibition period,” he said during a press conference yesterday.
The Autobots will be available for viewing from noon to midnight, Monday to Friday, and 9am to midnight on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.
